What’s New For

Increase Opportunities for Use Through New Courses and Content

To help students engage, we’re focused on building high-interest topics in our instructional content bank of 15,000 lessons and articles across the curriculum for grades 2-12.

We collected over 130,000 responses to our recent survey and are prioritizing content development in line with student interests. We’re also surveying students regularly to get their vote on the most interesting topics for upcoming lessons.

Launching on Constitution Day—September 17, 2018!

We’re thrilled to announce that we’ll be offering an expanded U.S. Civics and Government course that features 30 student readings from iCivics, a MacArthur Award-winning leader in civic education.

By differentiating this iCivics content on the Achieve3000 platform so it’s available at 12 levels in English and 8 in Spanish, we make it easy for students to digest critical—but sometimes complicated—material, so all students can read, discuss, and debate core civic education topics, including:

  • Forms of Government
  • Democracy and the U.S. Constitution
  • Branches of Government:
  • Structure, Function, and Powers
  • State and Local Governments
  • Politics and Elections
  • Public Opinion and Policy
  • Participation in Civic and Political Life

The course will be available to activate on September 3, 2018.

Students read more when they’re debating and discussing hot issues like whether playing video games is more beneficial or harmful to today’s youth and whether male and female athletes playing the same sport should receive similar salaries. Our Read-Discuss-Read Text Sets course challenges students to read multiple sources of information that are thematically connected to build an argument. Students read each article multiple times, discuss the topic with their peers, and synthesize their learning into written responses that address claims and counterclaims. Achieve3000 teachers can enable the Read-Discuss-Read Text Sets course now, and look for new text sets publishing in Fall 2018 and Spring 2019!

Make vacations a time for literacy growth! Achieve3000 now offers boot camps for each school break—often with accompanying contests—so students are motivated to keep learning even while they’re out of school. Our Holiday and Spring Break Boot Camps each offer five lessons on current science and social studies topics. For 2018-19, you’ll see a new Test Prep Boot Camp to help students with intensive practice in the months leading up to high-stakes assessments.
