Read-Discuss-Read from Dr. Doug Fisher and Achieve3000 is an instructional framework that builds from John Hattie’s research in Visible Learning and embraces specific protocols for use with Achieve3000 lessons to increase instructional impact, such as classroom discussion and close reading of complex text. For use with these protocols are two types of Read-Discuss-Read courses, Text Sets and Close Reading for grades 6-12, which are currently available for teachers to activate for their classes on Achieve3000.

ON-DEMAND PROFESSIONAL LEARNING FOR ACHIEVE3000 IMPACT
We’re going on-demand! Our Professional Learning Services (PLS) team is busy developing our core PLS modules so they can be delivered asynchronously, online. This frees individuals, schools, and districts from a range of scheduling constraints and fits squarely into our overall blended PLS offering, through which sites can “build a day” of professional learning.
Our new on-demand PLS modules will mirror what we offer through our live onsite and live online sessions, but will be accessible anytime, anywhere, and on any device. Designed using best practices for on-demand learning, these modules will be outcomes-based and organized around hands-on learning activities that will help educators apply new strategies in their classes immediately.

30 Days to Improving Instruction with Dr. Doug Fisher
We want to help teachers expand their classroom practices with practical, rapidly applicable, hands-on approaches to improving literacy instruction. With Dr. Fisher, we’ve created a totally innovative way to deliver high-impact professional learning on demand. Participants receive 30 days of videos and assignments direct from Dr. Fisher over a six-week scope and sequence. The first installment, 30 Days to Improving Instruction: Close Reading, is now available to all Achieve3000 educators as a subscription benefit. The second installment, Collaborative Conversations, is currently in production, and we’re looking forward to rolling it out in 2018-2019. We’re thrilled to announce that we’ll be offering an expanded U.S. Civics and Government curriculum that features 30 student readings from iCivics, a MacArthur Award-winning leader in civic education.
By differentiating this iCivics content on our platform so it’s available at 12 levels in English and 8 in Spanish, we make it easy for students to digest critical—but sometimes complicated—material, so all students can read, discuss, and debate topics like:

Keep students reading with new vacation boot camps! The Holiday Boot Camp is scheduled automatically for students to complete over the winter break. Teachers can activate the Spring Boot Camp for students to use on vacation, based on specific school calendars.
In between, launch the new Test Prep Boot Camp whenever it makes sense. Designed to give students targeted practice over a short duration, this boot camp includes eight bonus lessons that provide:
an article offered at a student’s independent Lexile® level, plus additional source documents in various media formats
a Step 3 Activity with multiple-choice, technology-enhanced, and short answer item formats
chances for students to practice applying close reading strategies and using evidence from multiple sources to support their responses
Using our Reading Skills Report, Achieve3000 educators get a close view of specific areas where students need targeted instruction. Then what? New grade-level courses available this fall in our Boost and Access solutions offer additional support in building foundational reading skills. In each course, 25 lessons are arranged in order of difficulty, so students progressing through the course have an opportunity for skill mastery. Courses include lesson-specific information for teachers about skills-based instruction and cover the following topics:
