Achieve3000 will continue to provide free access to its literacy solutions to Teach For America corps members and classrooms.
LAKEWOOD, N.J. – August 3, 2015 – Achieve3000 announces that it has renewed its partnership with the non-profit organization Teach For America. Under the renewed alliance, the educational technology company will continue to provide Teach For America corps members and their classrooms with free access to its patented, research-based literacy solutions during their two-year teaching commitment. In addition, Achieve3000 will provide corps teachers with professional development to ensure the successful implementation of its solutions with their students.
Founded in 1990, Teach For America recruits and develops a diverse corps of outstanding individuals of all academic disciplines to commit to teach in high-need schools for two years and become lifelong leaders in the movement to end educational inequity. Today, more than 10,500 corps members are teaching in 52 urban and rural regions across the country, while more than 37,000 alumni work across a variety of sectors to ensure that all children have access to an excellent education.
We are excited to renew our partnership with Teach For America. We share their mission to improve the educational outcomes of children growing up in low-income communities,” said Saki Dodelson, CEO and founder of Achieve3000. “By meeting kids at their precise reading levels, our differentiated instruction solutions help all students accelerate their reading growth and become college and career ready. In fact, students who use our solutions make double to triple the expected reading gains in one school year. We’re confident that our proven solutions will help Teach For America impact literacy success across the country.
Achieve3000 first became a Teach for America Technology Partner in December 2013 under an agreement that spanned the 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 school years. During that period, more than 600 first- and second-year corps members used Achieve3000 solutions to teach the critical reading and writing skills students need to meet the nation’s increasingly rigorous academic standards.
“We’re thrilled to continue our relationship with Achieve3000. We serve an incredibly diverse student body with a wide range of needs and it’s crucial to provide them with high-quality differentiated instruction. This partnership gives our corps members access to a robust differentiated instruction resource,” explained Andrew Hill, the Manager of Educational Technology at Teach For America.
“And since Achieve3000’s solutions are customized to meet each state’s academic standards and build literacy in the content areas, our teachers can use them in all fifty-two of our regions, across many grade and ability levels, as they work to meet the individual needs of each learner.”
The three literacy solutions offered through the partnership – KidBiz3000® for grades 2-5, TeenBiz3000® for grades 6-8, and Empower3000™ for grades 9-12 – automatically assess each student’s ability to read and then deliver high-quality, nonfiction content tailored to his or her precise reading level. The lessons, which include topics in science, social studies, and other content areas, are differentiated in English, Spanish, or English with Spanish-language supports.
This unique focus on differentiated instruction makes Achieve3000’s solutions especially effective for classrooms in the high-need communities served by Teach For America, where there may be a mix of struggling, grade-level, and high-achieving students as well as English language learners.
